Walton County Animal Control Closed to Foot Traffic

All offices will be closed to foot traffic. Please contact animal control by phone (770-267-1322) or email (, to schedule an appointment.

Animal drop-offs of strays and owner surrenders are available by appointment only. In order to avoid overcrowding and unnecessary euthanasia, animal control is asking owners to surrender pets only in urgent situations. Citizens who have taken a found pet into their custody are encouraged to post the pet on and keep it until an owner is located. If you have lost a pet, search and post on and the shelter will receive an automatic email of your report.

Animal pick-ups for adoptions, rescues, and reclaims are available by appointment only. The shelter will continue to post impounds on and as quickly as possible. Licensed rescues can schedule pick-ups by emailing the shelter. Citizens interested in adopting an animal should submit an adoption application and contact the shelter by phone or email to schedule an appointment.  The adoption application can be found at

Animal Control Officers are available by calling 770-267-1322 during regular hours. After hours and on weekends, please leave a message and an officer will contact you. Please call 911 for animal bites, sick/injured animals, severe animal cruelty situations, or aggressive animals.
